I'm a queer, cis-gendered woman - my pronouns are she/her. My practice is supportive of all gender and sexual identities. I’ve had the privilege of working with a lot of people who’ve talked with me about issues related to their sexuality, their gender, or both. I endeavour to provide gender-affirming care.
I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist- I'm passionate about empowering people towards living the way they want to. I use a strengths-based approach and work with you to help you be in touch with life’s glimmers. My counselling practice is Trauma Informed.
I have been trained in and draw on a range of evidence based psychological approaches, depending on your needs and preference:
Trauma Informed Stabilisation Treatment
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, including Trauma Focussed CBT
Solution Focussed Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Narrative Therapy
Schema Therapy
Interpersonal Psychotherapy
DBT Skills training
Clinical applications of Polyvagal Theory
I have worked in health since the 1990s, and with clients and supervisees in both public and private settings with a broad range of issues. I started to make the move into counselling roles midway through the first decade of the 2000s, and started work in Clinical Psychology in 2013.
I have particular interests in compassionate self-care, trauma recovery, clinician well-being, managing life transitions, and in the treatment of anxiety, depression, substance use, living with chronic illness and managing stress. My initial training was in Nursing, where I worked across several health environments, so I have a reasonably good understanding of the intersections between physical illnesses and emotional well being.
My registration and professional memberships include:
